Major pile up at Cherry Lane Roundabout

Posted by Dan Coombs on Sep 11, 09 09:57 AM in Local Authority

THREE fire engines attended a six vehicle pile up in West Drayton at a busy roundabout.

Firefighters had to rescue four people who were trapped in their vehicles at Cherry Lane Roundabout on Tuesday at 10.40am.

The collision involved six vehicles and a motor home, and emergency vehicles attended the scene for over an hour.

Two drivers were rushed to Hillingdon Hospital in Pield Heath Road as a priority and two more were taken with minor injuries.

The accident took place at the Cherry Lane Roundabout, leading onto the M4 motorway and is the point where Holloway Lane, Cherry Lane, Stockley Road and Shepiston Lane converge.

It was the second accident to take place in the area roundabout in a matter of days, two days earlier on Sunday morning a man was rushed to Charing Cross Hospital with head injuries after a traffic collision at nearby Stockley Roundabout.

We'd like to hear from you.

There is inadequate road signage at this junction and drivers are unaware how exactly to use it. It is a crossroads and a roundabout and this needs to be displayed properly. Some drivers take extreme chances in turning where they shouldn't.

Sorry Gazette but you have got it wrong yet again.
The accident on Sunday was at the West Drayton Road / Stockley Road rounabout not the same as this accident.
The road layout is very badly signposted, Road signs could be placed on the approach to the junction with clear instructions. I use this on a regular basis and witness a good few near misses where drivers have no idea where their going.

I avoid this roundabout at all costs, it is a hotspot for accidents, and is very badly designed, there is too much going on in wrong place. The shrubbery should be trimmed to improve visibility across the area to drivers.

This roundabout is a disgrace and i dont know why it was made the way it is. The council should do something about it to make it into a normal rondabout or crossroads because right now its a joke.
