Garden City Estate set up new residents association

A NEW residents association has been set up by disgruntled taxpayers fed up with their area becoming 'a dumping ground'.

The Garden City Estate and neighbouring roads in West Drayton have formed a new residents association after calls from local residents concerned about the level of both industrial and housing development in the area.

After a few weeks of formalising the Garden City Estate Residents Association (GCERA) the Association held it's first public meeting at the Royal British Legion in West Drayton which was well attended.

Many attending voiced their concern on the proposed developments in the area, particularly Hillingdon Borough's "core strategy" document which has designated West Drayton and neighbouring areas as "The Heathrow Opportunity Area", supporting new large scale developments within the area.

The Powerday proposal to construct an industrial waste recycling plant off Tavistock Road, Yiewsley, just a few hundred metres from hundreds of residential properties was also high on the agenda.

The association now has clear objectives on acceptable future developments in the area and the protection of the environment.

The association is hoping to liaise with other residents associations in the borough and can be contacted on 01895 421192 or jansweeting@sky.com

We'd like to hear from you.

I totally support your action against the waste plan, i know the council thinks West Drayton is a dumping ground for rubbish, let them try it north of the borough where most of them live.
