HOMEOWNERS in West Drayton are among those most likely to make a burglary insurance claim, according to research.

Based on more than three million quotes given through the comparison website MoneySupermarket.com, figures show that people living in the UB7 postal districts - West Drayton, Harmondsworth, Sipson, Yiewsley and Longford - made the 12th highest average number of claims for thefts and break-ins in the UK. This was 26.4 for every 1,000 enquiries.

The study analysed claims made in the year to the end of November 2011.

Stoke Newington, in north-east London, topped the charts with 33.6 claims, and six areas in the capital come in the top 20.

THE mother of a man stabbed to death in a samurai sword attack minutes after his attackers' car had been stopped by police is calling for a change in the law.

Christopher Mills, 22, was killed at his West Drayton home in January 2006 by two men brandishing the weapons.

His killers, Neil Moran and Gavin Ward, had been stopped just 11 minutes before when they were spotted driving erratically. But officers did not search the vehicle and the pair continued on the short drive to Christopher's flat.

A VIOLENT and prolific burglar who assaulted a homeowner with an iron bar has been jailed for 11 and a half years.

Aaron North, 22, of West Road, West Drayton, was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on Friday to one of the longest jail sentences doled out to any borough burglar in recent years.

North had denied aggravated burglary in Grange Way, Iver, in November 2010.

Along with his accomplice Reece Owen, 23, of Barra Hall Way, Hayes, he broke into the house but was confronted by one of the occupants.

A FRAUDSTER who lied about her family members being involved in a car accident to trick good samaritans out of cash has been jailed.

Sukhvinder Dhillon, 38, of Bath Road, West Drayton, was sentenced to 12 months behind bars after being found in possession of a coat she also took from one of her victims.

On four separate occasions Dhillon knocked on doors, pretending to be in trouble and asking residents for emergency cash.

A JAILED carjacker has been convicted again - this time for attempting to deal drugs.

Dev Sandhu, 22, was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years last summer for his involvement in a gang which robbed a motorist in West Drayton at gunpoint, then burgled a house nearby on the same night back in 2010.

But while on trial last April at Harrow Crown Court for the Lavender Rise and Mulberry Crescent offences, two people - one of them a prison officer - were caught attempting to smuggle heroin to Sandhu.

THE co-owner of a West Drayton pharmaceuticals firm has been jailed for 12 months after a jury found him guilty of running a counterfeit inhaler scam.

Premal Gandesha admitted importing and possessing the dodgy breathing aids, which malfunctioned after a number of doses, but denied knowledge they were counterfeit.

In the conclusion of a two-week trial at Harrow Crown Court on Friday (24), the jury returned a guilty verdict for Gandesha but acquitted his business partner, Sandeep Gohil, of Alphete Road in Edmonton, and employee Anand Mehta, of Oakfield Avenue in Kenton, on all counts.

A MAN from Yiewsley has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a man who was shot dead last week.

Anthony McKenzie, 22, of Falling Lane, Yiewsley, was charged on Saturday morning. (25/6)

He is one of four men held by police in connection with the murder of Kenrick Wickham, in Dulwich, south London.

THREE men from Hillingdon involved in an industrial-scale pirate DVD venture, believed to be the largest one ever discovered in the UK, have been jailed.

Rahul Divan, of Barnhill Road, Hayes, Ajay Singh Ahluwalia, of Grosvenor Road, Northwood, and Prikshat Sharma, of Laurel Lane, West Drayton, worked at the factory in a warehouse in Tatchbrook Road, Southall.

It was set up by Mirza Baig, who was identified as the ringleader of the illegal operation during the trial.

A PAEDOPHILE who abused his victim 24 times between 1965 and 1976 has finally been jailed- for eight years.

Harold Turner, 74, of Rowan Road, West Drayton, had been convicted of 24 counts of indecent assault against a young boy, and admitted 11 counts of possessing indecent images.

Turner, now retired, was a fleet manager for a haulage company and also worked as a security guard.
